Lake Blackshear Homeowners Association
Minutes of Quarterly Meeting
October 10, 2007

The regular meeting of the Association was held at Veterans State Park, Group Shelter #2.
The meeting was called to order by President Les Barnett at 7:00 PM.  Approximately 75 people were in attendance.  Board members present were Les Barnett, Robert Powell, Linda Harden, Bob Davis,  George Cook and Harry Hurt.  Those board members absent were Charles Gillespie, Bucky Brookshire, Hodges Whitaker, Ladd Jordan, Chuck Wilcox and Minamar Rogers.

Minutes of the July 10, 2007 meeting were approved as written. Copies of the report were distributed to members.

The Treasurer’s report was given by Debbie Powell, Treasurer.  Copies of the report were distributed.

Robert Powell was asked to be on the Advisory Committee for the DNR.  The Board approved a request that the Association help with his travel expenses for this appointment.

Marcus Waters, Crisp County Power, gave a lake report.  He said that the Lake is at an all time low.  He also mentioned that the “Keep Crisp Beautiful” project held on September 29, 2007 was a success.

The DNR report was given by Wade Law.  He reported that jet skis have been the number one complaint this summer.  The major reasons for citations given were boating under the influence and speeding.  There were two drownings on the Lake this summer.  Captain Jeff Swift with DNR was also in attendance.

Monica Simmons of the Crisp Co. Chamber of Commerce informed us of Thomas the Train that will be coming to the Veterans Park this month.  She asked for volunteers to help with the parking.  At this time 11,000 tickets have been sold.

Rep. Johnny Floyd gave an informative report on taxes, health care, education, weed control, water and noise pollution.

Bob Newsome reported that the Cypress Grill at the Resort has been very successful and has attracted people from at least 14 counties.  However, there have been complaints about the noise on weekends from the bands.  This matter is being addressed by Mr. Newsome and Bob Johnson, Resort Manager.

It was also announced that Harry Hurt has been appointed as the third judge for Crisp County.

Les Barnett mentioned that we have had two board members to die this year, Billy Wilson and Wilson Hamlett.

A nominating committee was appointed and they are Robert Powell, Linda Harden and Harry Hurt.

There being no other business the meeting was adjourned.
