Lake Blackshear Homeowners Association Meeting
and Board of Directors Meeting
Minutes of Annual Meeting - November 2, 2004

The Board of Directors and the regular meeting of the Lake Blackshear Homeowners Association was held at Veterans State Park, Group Shelter #2.

The Board of Directors met at 5:30 P.M., prior to the annual meeting. Those attending were President Harry Hurt, Vice President George Cook, Secretary Wilson Hamlett and Treasurer Debbie Powell. The primary reason for the meeting was to approve the Nominating Committee's recommendation for Officers and Directors for 2005. President Harry had asked the Committee not to nominate him as President for the coming year due to his present work load. The Committee reluctantly agreed. He will remain on the Board of Directors.

Following the Board meeting, the regular meeting was called to order by President Harry at 6:30 P.M. In additioin to the officers mentioined above, the Directors attending were Ladd Jordan, Dan Torbet, Larry Hockman and Robert Powell.

The Treasurer's report was given by Debbie Powell. She reviewed the income and expenses. She also reported that our membership had continued to grow and that we currently have approximately 340 members. Robert Powell encouraged everyone to invite prospective members. Debbie reported that our current taxes have been paid . We are continuing to work for a tax exempt status.

Marcus Walters, with Crisp County Power, gave a comprehensive report on lake water quality, mosquito control and weed control. He reminded members that the lake is currently being lowered 3-1/2 to 4 feet for dock, pier and seawall repairs. The water is to start rising again on December 15th. Marcus reported that the U.S. 280 bridge is to be torn down soon, preparing for the new four-lane highway.

There were no reports from surrounding counties.

DNR Captain Mike Commander was introduced as the new Regional Supervisor. He addressed our members and pledged continued cooperation.

Other guests recognized were Sgt. Swift and Charles Luther, Park Manager.

Ferrell Henry gave the invocatioin and remembered the late Reuben Cook, a former Director of our Associatioin. We then enjoyed a delicious meal of barbecued chicken and all the trimmings prepared by Lamar Bowen. The cost of the meal was subsidized by our Association. Approximately 125 people were fed.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned by President Harry.
