Minutes of Quarterly Meeting
January 29, 2013

Board members present included George Cook, Bob Davis, Debbie Powell, Ted Samples and Jody Slocum.  Approximately 40 members were present.  Minutes from the previous meeting and the current Treasurer’s report were approved.

 REPORTS

 Crisp Power Commission – Marcus Waters reported the mild winter has caused power consumption to be down which will necessitate a rate increase of approximately 7-8%

His office has issued sixty permits for dock repair and additions.  The weed control contractor will start spraying in late March.  The commission has ordered new buoys to replace ones lost in the severe storms we have had this winter.

 DNR – Officer Al Greer reported that it had been real quiet around the lake this winter. Some residents questioned if there were any restrictions on the duck hunters who tend to start early and are often in close proximity to houses.  Cpl Greer advised that as long as they were not aiming toward the houses or structures, there were no rules to be observed other than the state game laws in effect.  Even if the county imposed ordinances, the DNR could not enforce them.  The DNR is only authorized to enforce state statutes and rules. Officer Jesse Harrison was introduced and will be working in our area as well.

 GA Veterans Park – Gen. Mgr. Randell Meeks reiterated the tight budget situation with state funding for the parks system. He noted that the park was in need of a golf cart and a donation would be greatly appreciated.  Appreciation was expressed to Josh Chappell who had built four park benches for an Eagle Scout Project.

 NEW BUSINESS

 The Retreat – Chris Pfleuger with Coral Hospitality gave a report on issues and upcoming activities.  He discussed Golf Course specials as well as the hours of operation for Cordelias and the Bar/Lounge.  The Cypress Grill will open March 15^th with a new menu adding seafood platters and other dishes.  He also mentioned that the music/sound issue was being addressed by management. 

 The next meeting will be held on April 9, 2013.  There being no more business, the meeting was adjourned.
