Minutes of Annual Meeting January 9, 2007
The Board of Directors and
the regular meeting of the Lake Blackshear Homeowners Association was
held at Veterans State Park Group Shelter #2.
The Board of Directors met at 6:30 P.M. with President Les Barnett presiding.
The Officers attending were President Les Barnett, Vice President Robert
Powell, Secretary Wilson Hamlett, and Treasurer Debbie Powell. The Directors
attending were Minamar Rogers, Bob Davis, George Cook, Hodges Whitaker,
Ladd Jordan, Billy Williams, Harry Hurt, Chuck Wilcox, Linda Harden, and
Charles Gillespie. The Board members discussed general plans for the future,
which will be presented to the Association members at the meeting. Dr.
Charles Gillespie advised the Board members of his plan and involvment
in organizing a life saving program. This group will be made up of EMS
personnel and other individuals who have been certified in life saving
procedures. Robert Powell advised of plans for a meeting consisting of
county leaders from five counties, Association representatives , and Crisp
Co. Power Leaders to share information to facilitate development and other
items of common interest. This meeting is scheduled for April 30, 2007
from 9:00 A.M. till 2:00 P.M.
President Les opened the regular Association meeting at 7:00 P.M. Les
introduced the Officers and Directors who have been elected to serve for
the year 1007.
The Minutes of the last meeting were approved. The correction in the spelling
Bob Newsome's name from Bob Mason was noted.
Debbie Powell gave the Treasurer's report. She also advised that we now
have 363 members.
Marcus Waters, with Crisp Co. Power Commission, reported on current conditioins
of the lake, water level, amount of power generated, relicensing of the
dam, etc.
A discussion was held as to the advantage of a Neighborhood Watch Program.
Bob Newsome, with the Dept. of Natural Resources, brought us up to date
on the new resraurant plans. Ground has been broken for the construction.
It is hoped that the restaurant will be open some time between Memorial
Day and mid-June 2007 and the previously mentioned possible sale of the
facilities at the park has been decided against by the DNR Board.
Holly Jones, with Worth Co. Chamber of Commerce, Monica Simmons with Crisp
Co. Chamber of Commerce, and David Garriga, with Sumter Co. Chamber of
Commerce each reported on activity in their respective counties. All three
are working together for the benefit of the lake dwellers.
The next meeting will be held at the Group Shelter #2 at the State Park
on April 10, 2007.
President Les advised that the July meeting of the Association and Board
will be held in Warwick, GA.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
